About

Melanie at the Sand DunesThe Artist

I currently live and work out of my home studio in Denver, Colorado. My passion for photography began when I was 10 years old with a pocket camera in hand at a farm in Ohio, shooting our various pets and family vacations. After years of being side-tracked by more practical career pursuits (graphic design), I returned to photography and have been producing black and white fine art silver gelatin prints since 2001.

I love traveling abroad and on road trips across the US, shooting whatever inspires me along the way, which is usually everything! I enjoy sharing my artistic inspirations with others and hope that they feel inspired as well!

Melanie holds a BFA in Graphic Design and a Minor in Photography. She feels her graphic design background aids her in creating interesting photo compositions.

The Process

All photography is shot using black and white film, which is hand processed by the artist. Every print is a Limited Edition Silver Gelatin print hand printed by the artist in a traditional wet darkroom on archival fiber-based papers. All prints are signed and numbered in small edition sizes. Each print is matted using archival museum quality cotton rag mats to preserve the print.
